WINTER EP SONG STORIES |
"hola lads and lasses!
I've been enjoying some fine surf lately, working on spring back in home sweet home, gearing up for a trip down south... indonesia, I'm counting on you. yes, you.
Ok so tonight is a big night. I'm hoping to finish the lyrics for a song called "baptize my mind" for the spring ep. and...
...the Winter EP comes out in less than two hours! If you're strapped for cash go to my site and get it for 5 bucks instead of 6... www.jonforeman.com And yes, it is weird to have a website with your own name on it! but, it's easier to remember that way...
Anyhow, I would like to thank all the folks who have really encouraged me to get these tunes out there- I'm so thankful that these bedroom recordings are now public... I think these ep's touch some of the deepest places I've ever been, so it's amazing to thing that other folks are getting as excited as I am.
thanks again,
hope you dig winter,
peace!

Song Stories:
Learning How to Die
"It's funny how songs kind of unfold and they mean more to you as you go on. [This song] in particular has meant a ton to me in this time. That was a song that I wrote about a specific situation that was going on, but has come to me much more than simply that situation. I think ulitmately, the lyrics are about longing and the idea that a lot of us, myself included, often we dive into this worldview where we think we're continually getting better, and continually
learning how to take, and how to live, and all these things are accumulating. In fact the process of life is surrender and letting go and learning how to die. It seems very obvious when you think of the idea that from the very moment the umbilical cord is cut, you are in a process of death and youre surrendering one by one for some of us, and all at once for others, your mobility, your mental capacity, the functionality of your organs, all these things are being slowly or quickly taken from us and coming to turns with that is not a process of collecting or holding on, rather letting go."
