NO CONCERT DEPRESSION

We decided that someone needed to address a devestating disease that affects Switchfoot fams from all over the world.

What is this illness? We call it No Concert Depression. What is NCD? Quite simply, it's that depressed feeling that you get when:
a) You hear someone talking about an awesome Switchfoot concert they just went to
b) When you cannot see Switchfoot when they come to your city
c) When Switchfoot does not come to your city at all for their tour.

This serious illness affects 3 in 5 Switchfoot fans. Symptoms include sadness, apathy, loss of interest in normal daily activities, feeling sad or down, feeling hopeless, crying spells for no apparent reason, problems sleeping, trouble focusing or concentrating, difficulty making non-Switchfoot related decisions, irritability, restlessness, being easily annoyed, distress, the need to listen to Switchfoot songs, acute loneliness, pining for the Switchfoot guys, withdrawal from friends and family, loss of interest in non-Switchfoot activities, grouchiness, anger, sorrow and the desire to travel thousands of miles to see them.

Like the similar illness, Post Concert Depression (PCD), NCD is commonly identified by the five stages of grief:
+ Denial (They HAVE to be coming here. They CAN'T just leave me here! ALONE! *checks tour dates one more time*)
+ Anger (Why am I not allowed to drive 10 hours to see Switchfoot? Why can’t I fly across country? WHY MUST I SUFFER SO!?! IT’S NOT FAIR!)
+ Bargaining (Maybe if I spam Switchfoot’s myspace page they'll listen to my desperate pleas and come to my city. Or maybe if I promise to never ask for anything else my parents will drive me out of state to see them.)
+ Depression (They're never coming here. They don't care about me. Life hates me. Switchfoot hates me.)
+ Acceptance (There will be more concerts and more tours. Switchfoot loves touring – they will come here soon! Or they’d better if they don’t want me to toilet paper their tour bus.)

So fans, take heart. No, there is not a cure. But yes, NCD will go away in time! So embrace your grief, knowing that Switchfoot will come to your state and you will go to see them.

Best wishes and good luck handling your No Concert Depression!

WAYS TO (SOMEWHAT) TREAT NO CONCERT DEPRESSION
In order to attempt to calm yourself and not depress/ anger other fams, try to do the following:

1) Download bootlegs or watch Youtube videos of concerts (It’s not the same, but it does help.)
2) Talk to other fams and listen to their stories, and memories. Try to live through them.
3) Start a support group and talk to others about their NCD. After all, the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.
4) Treat yourself to something (A Switchfoot CD or a piece of rad merch.) that you didn't have before because of the cost. Tell your parents it’s cheaper then going to a concert if they protest.
5) Start subtly working on your parents to take you to a future Switchfoot concert.

DO NOT!!!
1) Sneak out to see them. You will get caught, and you won't be able to see them again.
2) Depress other fams by your constant complaining. They deserve to be happy about their concert experiences.
3) Spam the guys about coming to your state. They don’t book their own shows people.
