LOBH PROJECTS

From time to time some fans will e-mail us with an idea for a tangible way for fans all over the globe to express their appreciation for the guys.

When this happens, we here at LOBH partner up with the fan and together, we take the idea public, encouraging site visitors and Switchfoot fans to get involved.

If you have a great idea of something you would like to do for the guys e-mail us at landofbrokenhearts@hotmail.com and we will help you get your idea off the ground! In the meantime check out our current and past projects below:

The "I Remember" Switchfoot Book of Fams :: from Brendan

WHAT: The "I Remember" Switchfoot Book of Fams Project *Name Pending*

This project is inspired by Switchfoot's goal to bring down the barrier between fans and band. We love Switchfoot, because they make the effort to share themselves wih us. They talk to us after the shows, they take pictures for us, they sign whatever we ask them to sign, they put out podcasts and blogs and other free goodies for all of us to enjoy and become closer to them. If we can do this successfully, we will be giving Switchfoot a book complete with their closest fams. Think about how many shows they play, and how hard it would be to remember people by name, or by face. So I thought, why dont WE sign something for them? Why dont WE give the guys something to remember us by? This book is a way for the guys to connect with us on a deeper level, and if all goes according to plan they will have a solid book of memories from us, the fams. Enough with the motives, and on with the details.

DETAILS:
Each person participating will create a personal "I Remember" card. It will be like a trading card, only you make it about yourself. The card will be double sided, and will be the standard trading card size, which is 2.5 by 3.5 inches (or 6.5 by 9 centimeters). This is because as a kid, I collected hockey cards, and because of this I have hundreds of those clear plastic card holders. They clip into a binder and can hold 9 cards on each page, so the number of people participating in this can be virtually unlimited as I can add in more pages as needed. ALL CARDS ARE DUE IN BY SEPTEMBER 1st.

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
Everyone can participate! It doesn't matter how creative you are. Just take an hour or so out of your time to give Switchfoot a part of you back.

First things first. On the front of the card, you will include a picture of yourself. This picture should be something the guys can remember you by. Drew: "Oh yeah! I remember you, you were the girl cliff-diving into the ocean" or anything else that will grab the guys attention. We all know how much they love randomness. As long as the picture is not offensive, you can use it. Pictures of you and the guys work well also, but make sure you specify which show it was at!
After you have chosen your picture, it is important to make sure it is in the correct format. This means your picture cannot exceed a size greater than 2.5 x 3.5 inches (or 6.5 x 9 centimeters). If your picture is too big, it wont fit into the binder pages I have for the book.
After you have insured that your picture is the correct size, print it out. Find a sharpie, a pen, a crayon, and sign it! We are so used to the guys signing things for us, so lets switch it up and return the favour. After you have signed your picture, scan it. If you don't have a scanner and can't access a colour photocopier, try and take a good quality picture of it. If you cannot do this, then do not print out your picture and sign it, you will simply type your name onto your picture on the computer, and that will suffice as a signiture.

You have now completed the front of the card.

Now for the back. This is simple. At the top of the card, write down how old you are. Underneath that, write down where you are from. If you are from the US, write down which city or state you live in, followed by the country. If you live in Canada, write down which city or province you live in, followed by the country. And so on and so forth, its simple. Now, underneath this information, you will leave a space to write your "I Remember" mini paragraph. This section will include a short story, memory, or experience you've had with Switchfoot. This should be something you would like (and help) Switchfoot to remember you by. If you haven't been to a show, write down your fondest memory of them OR write down something they will remember you by. Example, "Mike Smith" I remember: When I said a speech infront of the whole school then slipped and everyone laughed hysterically. OR I remember the first day I got my license, and then smashed up my dad's Lexus. After you have completed your "I Remember" section, its time to say goodbye. This can be done any way you like, just so long as you include your name, clearly printed or typed at the bottom. If you have a scanner, I encourage you to handwrite any information on your "I Remember" card, as it shows effort and personality. If you cannot scan or photocopy a handwritten version, simply do it on paint, or photoshop. Regardless of whether or not it's handwritten, make it your own! Decorate it, include some of your creativity into it. As long as the card follows the requirements, and is 2.5 x 3.5 inches, it can be any combination or colours you want it to be.

Once you are completely your card, save it onto your computer. You should have two images; the front and back of the card.
These images should be sent to: meant-to_live@hotmail.com

Once I receive your images, I will print them off and put them together to make a double-sided card. From there I will insert it into a binder. The cards will be arranged in alphabetical order according to where you live. Example: if you live in New York, USA your card will appear before someone who lives in Wischonsin, USA. If you live in Australia, your card will appear before both those cards. This is the best way for the guys to remember you, as they are more likely to remember a certain show then a name. Once they remember the New York show, they can begin to remember who stayed after to visit with them etc. This is why I have decided to sort them by location.

If you have any questions pertaining to the project, ask away. I am planning on starting a countup so to speak, of how many cards are included in the book. The best part about this project is that everyone will have a piece of them with Swichfoot. It doesnt matter how creative or talented you are, or how many shows you have been too, or how long you have liked them for, you can participate regardless. I Hope you have fun with this and if we work together we can create something really special to give back to the guys!
