LOBH EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH NESSIM HIGSON

Ever since Nothing Is Sound first came out, I was immediately drawn to the unique CD cover.
I thought it would be interesting to talk with the man behind the art...Nessim Higson.
Read on to find the out the inside scoop in another LOBH Behind the Scenes EXCLUSIVE interview!

Land of Broken Hearts (LOBH): Thanks for doing this interview Mr. Higson! First off, I’m really curious to know how you got chosen to design the CD?
Nessim Higson: The group came across an illustration I had done and wanted to utilize it for a cover.

LOBH: Who came up with the concept for the cover?
Nessim: It was pre-existing - from my original illustration. So I suppose I did. The concept played off the duality of capitalism and true life. Semi permanence of sorts.

LOBH: The cover shows that well. So what was the main thing you wanted to convey through the NIS design?
Nessim: Semi Permanence.

LOBH: What is your favorite part of the cover?
Nessim: The guy climbing for something we can't quite discern.

LOBH: How long did it take you to design the cover?
Nessim: The illustration that everything is based off of is - was done in a day and a half if I remember properly.

LOBH: Where do you find inspiration for your work?
Nessim: Everywhere.

LOBH: Did you get the chance to meet the Switchfoot guys? If so, what did you think of them?
Nessim: Yes I did - very nice guys.

LOBH: Getting back to your work, what programs (like photoshop or paint shop) do you use?
Nessim: Anything and everything.

LOBH: How long have you been in graphic design?
Nessim: About 10 years

LOBH: What tips would you give aspiring graphic artists?
Nessim: To be motivated, inspired and follow ones heart.

LOBH: Mr. Higson thanks so much for your time and I look forward to seeing more of your work!
